After moving into my new home, I envisioned having a generous, well lit size entry room/mudroom to serve as a place to hang coats and store footwear. The previous owners had essentially left the entry room in its original state, complete with drop ceiling tiles and baseboard heat. I took the liberty to lightly renovate the room to my liking, complete with the perfect solution for easy to install recessed ceiling lighting. Enter the Halo LED Surface Disk Light!
After browsing the isles of my local Home Depot, and knowing virtually nothing about recessed lighting options, I came across your standard ceiling lighting cans and bulbs (see right image). These looked like my only option for achieving the clean recessed look but looked like a ton of work.
As soon as I was ready to pack it up and forget about my DIY ceiling lights, a helpful employee came down the aisle, seemingly aware of my failed state, and directed me over to the Halo LED kit. After explaining that I didn’t need the heavy lighting cans, he showed me how simple it was to mount the lights given my current setup. I was sold and bought a pair on the spot!
